June 26, 2025
At the June 26 meeting of the Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education, the Board announced out of closed session that Jasmine Piring Jones was appointed as Principal of Bret Harte Elementary School.
During the open session, the Board recognized outgoing Student Board Member Justine Chueh-Griffith for their dedication to the Sacramento City Unified School District and student body for the 2024-2025 school year.

As we bring the 2024-2025 school year to close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful things that are happening in the Sacramento City Unified School District.

At the June 5 meeting of the Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education, the Board recognized our Stellar Students from Will C. Wood Middle School: Jocelyn Carlos, Jeremiah Stewart, Helen Gonzalez, Maria Jose Medina, Alberto Alvarado, Luis Valdez Estrada, and Asahel Minor. Principal Mary Cha wrote that these students were chosen for this recognition because they demonstrated dedication, leadership, strong work ethic, academic progress, resilience, advocacy, and responsibility. Congratulations to our Stellar Students!
SCUSD to Host Groundbreaking Ceremony for Construction of Fern Bacon Middle School
First new Middle School to be built in SCUSD in 48 years; made possible by voter-approved funding
WHAT: Groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction of a new, state-of-the-art campus to replace the aging facility.
WHEN: Monday, June 2 at 9:00 a.m.
WHERE: Fern Bacon Middle School, 4140 Cuny Ave, Sacramento, CA 95823
VISUALS: Elected and school officials will break ground with a shovel ceremony and make remarks. Students will be in attendance to witness the beginning of construction.
